IFEVA is a joint research institute of the Faculty of Agronomy, University of Buenos Aires, and the Argentine National Research Council (CONICET). From the outset (1965), the research focus at the Institute has been plant physiological and ecological aspects of agriculture and the sustainable use of natural resources. Current work includes topics ranging from the molecular bases of plant responses to the environment through to regional ecosystem structure and function.

Work at the Insitute seeks to elucidate the bases of important natural phenomena with the objective of improving the quality of decisions pertaining to the structure and function of the components of managed and natural systems within and across levels of complexity and biological organization.
